I have a penchant for touring, commuter and cargo bikes. But, as you see from these example photos, I also make road, mountain and track bikes. Call it any style you like, let's talk about the one for you.
Oh, Xtracycle...where would we be without you? Your passion, love and altruism empower true revolution. You tilt the mightiest windmills and your dreams allow others to live theirs. I tip my shaving basin to you with heartfelt honor and humility.
This custom longtail is based on Xtracycle's Longtail Open Standard but lowered to fit 24" (ISO 571) wheels. The lower center of gravity makes cargo carrying easier and more stable. The integrated long cargo frame offers a laterally ridgid ride while retaining the suppleness of steel...excellent features in a cargo bike.
This bike is a custom filet-brazed commuter which has seen a year of service prior to these photos. A bit of dirt is okay since bikes are meant for function more than fashion. Quixote Cycles have both!
With versatility beyond stealthily splashing to work and back, this matte black steed sports a 5 piece straight-blade fork with lowrider mounts, Alfine internally geared hub with optional Gates Carbon Drive,
handmade racks with u-lock slot, a dynamo front hub powering the Light-On headlight and clearance for 42mm tires (38 with matching powdercoated fenders). Comfortable bombing fire roads, touring wine country with a full load or
discreetly blending into the bike racks at work awaiting your dark, rainy, sublime ride home. (photos by Jonathan Maus).
"14 days in, and the bike is sweet. We rode to Astoria and down the coast to the redwoods in california, now heading back toward Portland via Grants Pass. I am absolutely satisfied and happy." -SN. Boulder City, NV. (all photos by Elly Blue)
This was my entry in the 2009 Oregon Manifest Constructor's Design Challenge. This is a custom fit all-rounder featuring sloping Llewellyn lugged frame, fillet brazed fork and stem, room for 35mm cross tires with fenders and handmade front and rear carriers sporting jatoba wood slats and integrated u-lock/headlight and alarm. (Whew!) The bike's owner rode this to a top ten race finish over the 77 mile mixed terrain course which one third of the entries did not survive. I am very proud to have displayed and proven my work among so many talented people whose stuff I admire. A big thank you to all the sponsors, organizers and participants that made this proving ground happen.

"When i woke up the day after picking up my bike i had forgotten about it and when i walked into the living room it was like a dream come true. It fits perfectly! -T.K. Montréal, Québec
T.K. is carfree so she rides everywhere. She also enjoys travel so a custom made touring rig was an easily justified expense and a tremendous boost to her desire to ride. After an interview and fit session, we narrowed down parts selection and she chose the subtle two-tone green to accentuate the LLewellyn Slant-Six lugs. Beauty, eh?!
UPDATE: Tara and Ross pedaled down from British Columbia recently to demonstrate how much love the bike is receiving. Great to see you my friends. (photos by Jonathan Maus)

"Some of us are decent people who want to stay out of the emergency room, but still blast through neo-gridlock traffic in residential districts whenever we feel like it... For that we need Fine Machinery."
-H.S.Thompson. from Song of the Sausage Creature
This is my personal ride. I wanted a well fit, comfortable city-oriented, (yet quick) daily, all-weather machine. I was headquartered in Québec when I built it, so hydraulic disc brakes, fenders, internal gears, generator lighting and the ability to portage du fromage et du vin était vraiment nécessaire. Lugged stem and handmade ice tires optional. Cable routing allows for both Rohloff and Nuvinci hub options. (photos by Chapter9 Photography)

"Where things really shine is when you get up to speed, there is a comfort and confidence that allows you to maintain speed through most normal situations, this is a real energy saver." -S.K. Ahwatukee, Arizona
S.K. lives next to the biggest municipal park in the United States and the place is a wonderland of desert singletrack and wicked cacti. A sparkly fillet brazed hardtail is the right tool for the job. Watch out for them jackalopes! They are feisty when jealous.

"Oh. My. Gaawd!" -R.P. Long Island, New York
A classic lugged lightweight with 73° angles but built around 26inch wheels for those of smaller stature. Not something you will find in a mass production frame.
R.P. received this bike as a surprise gift. A joyous present to send or receive but one which teaches the value of accurate fitting data.
You might be able to estimate your Significant Other's height and shoulder width to the millimeter but guessing their comfortable dimensions between saddle, pedals and handlebar is best avoided. Now each bike I build is based on data derived from a detailed fit session (included in price) either with me or with a trained fit specialist near the customer. If you want to give that special someone a gift, give them a gift certificate for a Quixote bicycle and I'll take it from there.
In this case, the resulting bike proportions were close but it required some parts substitution after the unveiling to make bike and rider a blissful pair.

For his forty-somethingth birthday, SBR's family chipped in on this fillet-brazed, rigid mountain bike in the colors of his favorite team. Only problem is that since I assembled and test rode it, now I have to have one. A group purchase such as this is a fantastic way to give a special gift. Who needs another necktie anyway?

"Great artists steal" -Pablo Picasso
The only part that comes standard on Quixote bicycles is the sterling silver headbadge. I can even leave that off if you prefer.
